If the art of ancient perfumery was to have a fragrant figurehead, it would surely be Cleopatra.
One of the most enigmatic women in world history, femme fatale & star crossed lover Egyptian Queen Cleopatra has evoked curiosity & fascination since time immemorial.
In ancient times, scents were created through smoke from burning fragrant resins, barks, and herbs (“perfume” derives from per fumum “through smoke”), or through maceration by steeping resins, flowers, herbs, spices, and wood.
Transmuted with traditional maceration & infusion methods, this perfume is a recreation of the discovery of an ancient perfume factory, at the site of the ancient Egyptian city of Thmuis, founded in 4,500 B.C.
Cleopatra had her own perfume factory, wearing only her own brand. This highly sought after perfume is supposed to be known as Mendesian, the most popular scents of those times. Myrrh, cinnamon, cardamom & pine needle have been used here to maintain her historical ingredients found at this site.
A most exquisite, sensual, ancient sacred aroma, time travel through the sense of smell with what would have been the Chanel No.5 of ancient Egypt.
Plant extract natural perfume is a work of art that will hold differing aromas upon each individual’s flesh throughout each aspect of the scent. From the opening top note to the final dry down, it is best experienced on the skin, opposed to solely sniffing the bottle, allowing the perfume to be truly embraced, understood & appreciated.
Welcome to our perfume library! Years in the making, inspired by beautiful, unique words, this new collection of natural perfume has been created for one to layer, merge together, apply ritually, creating their own unique signature scent.
Our own smell is personal to us, and completely unique. How we smell is predetermined, and comes from the same genes which determine our body’s tissue type. We all have our ‘scent blind spots’, smells which we cannot pick up. This means that we all smell things differently, and the scents we enjoy are entirely unique to us.
Since time immemorial, people have approached fragrance ritualistically, layering on multiple oils, or attars. To have the most surprising effect, it’s important to blend fragrances that have diverse facets. Some scents that you can’t put together in the same bottle or formula, because they’re too extreme and turn out smelling horrible, are actually wonderful when you blend them in a layering process. Perfume layering is the best way to explore new aromas, merging untraditional ingredients to create one’s personal story upon the flesh.
