Birch Bark ~ (Betula lenta) pure essential oil
$20.00
Betula lenta (sweet birch, also known as black birch, cherry birch, mahogany birch, or spice birch) is a species of birch native to eastern North America, from southernmost Ontario. The oldest known tree has been confirmed to be 368 years old., and the species may live even longer than that in an undisturbed ancient forest.
Birch bark was once harvested extensively to produce oil of wintergreen—the tree was borderline endangered until the 1950s-60s when synthetic oil of wintergreen appeared. The aroma is of fresh camphor and succulent mint, similar in chemistry to its forest friend, wintergreen.
Birch oil is a purifying, uplifting and stimulating oil that encourages detoxification of the body when inhaled or applied topically. The properties in birch essential oil promote comfort and relaxation, and support the body’s own ability to boost effectiveness of it’s healing cycles.
This is the birch bark essential oil we use in our creations. Sustainably Candadian forest wildcrafted, small batch steam distilled.
