Sacred Oak Salve

Known to symbolize sovereignty, rulership, power, strength & endurance, generosity & protection, justice & nobility, honesty & bravery, the mighty oak has many medicinal and magical properties. Oak is governed by Jupiter and that the oak is known to to help resist poison of both “venomous creatures” and those of herbs and plants.  Of all the trees in prehistoric times, the oak was the most widely venerated, as it was believed that the oak was the first tree created and that man sprang from it. It was sacred to Hebrews, Greeks dedicated it to Zeus, to the Romans the oak was the tree of Jupiter, and to the Teutonic tribes, it was the Tree of Life, sacred to Thor. It was the most sacred tree of the Celtic Druids, who collected rainwater from hollows in the trunk and branches to ritually cleanse themselves. Witches often danced beneath the Oak Tree for ritual, Druids would not meet for ritual if there was not an Oak tree present.

The astringent effects of the Oak were well known to the Ancients, by whom different parts of the tree were used in medicine. Its action is slightly tonic, strongly astringent and antiseptic, making it beneficial when applied topically to reduce skin irritants, bruising, pain and other conditions of the skin. Wildcrafted Oak leaf, bark and acorn infused and warmed in unrefined organic hemp oil with a touch of dark beeswax from our local apiary make this scent green &  of a slightly nutty aroma.
