1000 Year Old Tobacco (Nicotiana rustica) ~ An extremely potent Aztec tobacco, member of the nightshade family, this was historically used as a relaxant. These seeds were preserved in an urn from an ancient burial site, believed to be 1000 years old. Sow in the late spring.

Yellow Oleander (Thevetia neriifolia) ~ Used in ancient times to treat heart disease and cause death by poisoning. All parts of the plant are extremely toxic. Sow anytime of year. This perennial is moderately easily germinated.

Foxglove (Digitalis purpurea) ~ Used medically to treat heart conditions, magically for protection. All parts of the plant are toxic. Sow anytime of year. This biennial is moderately easily germinated.

Toloache (Datura wrightii) ~ Long history of use as a hallucinogen in Mexico with Indigenous peoples . All parts of the plant contain high levels of tropane alkaloids. Sow in the spring. This annual is easily germinated.

Laceflower/Bishop’s Weed (Ammi majus) ~  Known to treat skin conditions, dating back to 1400BC India, this plant also causes phytophotodermatitis Sow spring, late summer/ early fall. This annual is easily germinated.

Poppy (Papaver somniferum) ~ Source of opium & narcotic alkaloids used in ancient times to control pain. Blood red with a rich black center. Sow spring, late summer/ early fall. This annual is easily germinated.

Adonis (Adonis aestivalis) ~ According to Greek legend, this flower sprang from the blood of Adonis. Formerly used as a cardiac stimulant, this plant blooms brilliant crimson and black flowers in June/July. Sow late spring, early summer. This annual is easily germinated.
